WILDERNESS ADVENTURE COMPANY TAKES AN ASTONISHING THREE FIRST PLACE FINISHES IN THE “BEST WINTER PACKAGE IN CANADA” CONTEST!
Call Of The Wild, an innovative soft adventure company based in Markham, surprised the travel industry when it swept the Ontario Regional championships for the “Best Winter Package in Canada” contest. Of the seven categories in the contest, Call Of The Wild won three, and placed second in two others! This contest, organized by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), is intended to promote winter tourism in Canada, and is open to all tourism businesses. The goal is to encourage new and exciting tour packages and, judging by the number and quality of entrants, it is succeeding.
“We spent a lot of time designing new programs for this contest,” said Robin Banerjee, Head Guide of Call Of The Wild. “We basically thought about what the public would want, and what we would have fun offering. We are thrilled to know that others feel the same way.”
This is not the first time Call Of The Wild has been recognized for the excellence of its programs. Earlier this year they won a prestigious award for “Creative Excellence and Innovation” in London, England. “Being recognized as a shining light is extremely rewarding” said Maureen Malone, the Senior Program Director. “The better our programs, the more choices we have to offer, making for a better experience for everyone.”
The winning packages are all in or near the world-famous Algonquin Park. “Highlands Snowmobile Safari” is an exciting three-day snowmobile trip through the heart of the Haliburton Highlands in central Ontario. “Fun With Fitness” is a program to encourage fun healthy living. Led by a Kinesiologist, participants learn to create their own exercise regimes, healthy diets, and have fun. The other winning program, “Days of Yore,” is aimed at families wanting to experience some good, old-fashioned Canadian winter fun during March break including tobogganing, snow fort building, skating, and snowshoeing.
Call of the Wild’s second place finishes included a professional “Photo Safari by Dogsled”, and “The Canadian Experience – a Rustic Multi-Adventure” including dog sledding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
